Although most people will choose to leave their mounting discs permanently installed in their bowls, others might want to remove them.  For example, when you borrow someone else's bowls for a performance.  Although removal can be done using using your fingers, it does require some force and agility.  People with long nails might have some difficulty doing so. 
 
The removal tool makes this task very easy!   It has a threaded flange which is screwed onto the disc and gives you a long lever to gently pull down and slowly detach the adhesive.
