What is it?
In a nutshell, the Musical Mushroom® is a brand new patent pending technology which allows sound healers and performers to play their existing crystal singing bowls using simple hand gestures instead of the mallet. In order to do so, a small exciter (vibrating speaker) is glued inside the bowl and causes it to resonate by electronic control. A small battery-powered control unit is placed inside the bowl and detects hand gestures above the bowl to control the loudness of these vibrations. The sounds can be automatically continued by the Mushroom without further user intervention to generate drone notes. Cool LED effects and programmable colors light up the bowl to provide an audio-visual speactacle.

Musical Mushroom Kits
We offer several types of kits including different numbers of Musical Mushrooms. The STARTER KIT (1x unit), the NOMAD KIT (2x units), the TRINITY KIT (3x units) and finally the PROFESSIONAL KIT (4x units). These kits include all the accessories needed to use your Mushrooms and also come with a rugged plastic carrying case, except for the single unit STARTER KIT which includes a felt bag instead. Getting the plastic carrying case is highly recommended if you intend to travel with your Mushrooms. It has slots for up to 4x Mushrooms so you might want to start by purchasing a NOMAD KIT (2x units) and purchase additional single units in the future to add to your kit over time!
You don't necessarily need to purchase one Mushroom per bowl. Some people only need a few Mushrooms to hold drone notes in their larger bowls in the background while they play their other bowls manually at the same time. Others prefer the ability to play all their bowls using hand gestures so they install one mushroom per bowl. It is a matter of personal preference. Just be aware that you should space your bowls about 1 bowl apart when they have mushrooms installed so the hand gesture sensors don't interfere with each other. You might want to start with a few bowls at first and add more later on.

Installation in your bowl is very simple. You glue a small plastic mounting disc inside your bowl. This disc can remain in your bowl permanently (or can be removed if you want). You can still nest your bowls together or play your bowls manually with the disc installed. Once ready to use the Musical Mushrooms, you screw a small exciter onto this plastic mounting disc finger tight. The exciter is a small electromagnetic device which creates mechanical vibrations and will make your bowl itself sing. You connect a small cable from the exciter to your Musical Mushroom placed in the center of your bowl and voila! The first time you use a Mushroom in a new bowl, you need to perform a one-time calibration so that the Mushroom learns at what frequency your bowl signs. As long as you keep using the same Mushroom in the same bowl, it will remember its last calibration settings. If not, you simply repeat the calibration in a new bowl. You are now ready to play your singing bowl using hand gestures!
